NCRG announces change in date and location for its annual conference

14 September 2010

WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRESS RELEASE) -— The National Center for Responsible Gaming (NCRG) today announced that it has shifted the date and location for its annual Conference on Gambling and Addiction. Beginning in 2011, the conference will be held more than one month earlier and move to the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev. The 2011 event will take place Oct. 2-4. The conference is presented by the NCRG and the Institute for Research on Gambling Disorders in partnership with the NCRG Centers of Excellence at the University of Minnesota and Yale University.

The newly adjusted date pattern and change of location coincides with the move of Global Gaming Expo (G2E), the premier international gaming industry trade show and conference event. The NCRG conference has long immediately preceded G2E, with the final day of sessions for the NCRG conference held at the global gaming event.

“It was important to shift the NCRG conference dates to coincide with future G2E events so we can continue to demonstrate the importance of responsible gaming to the entire global gaming community,” said Glenn Christenson, chairman of the NCRG. “Aligning the NCRG conference with G2E continues our tradition of bringing international industry and government representatives together with leading researchers and clinicians from around the world for a spirited discussion about these important issues. We expect that having our event housed under the same roof as G2E will help attract even more attendees and broaden networking opportunities among all our constituents.”

The complete three-year calendar of future NCRG and G2E events is as follows:

REVISED DATES FOR THE NCRG ANNUAL CONFERENCE ON GAMBLING AND ADDICTION

“We are truly grateful for our strong partnerships with MGM Resorts and Harrah’s Entertainment, who have hosted our past NCRG annual conferences,” said Christine Reilly, executive director of Institute for Research on Gambling Disorders. “They have been integral to the success of our events. Looking ahead to 2011 and beyond, we look forward to working with the Sands, a state-of-the-art facility that will enhance convenience for our attendees by having all three days of the event in the same space.”

The NCRG’s 2010 annual Conference on Gambling and Addiction is scheduled for Nov. 14-16, 2010, at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino and the Las Vegas Convention Center. The 2010 conference, themed “Redefining Diagnosis, Treatment Research and Responsible Gaming for the 21st Century,” will bring together the world’s leading addiction scientists, clinicians and academics with health care professionals, gaming industry representatives, government officials and regulators to discuss the most pressing issues in the field of gambling disorders and responsible gaming.
