Four weeks from now gaming industry personnel from around the globe will descend on Las Vegas, Nevada, for the third annual Global Gaming Expo (G2E). This year's event is scheduled for September 16-18, 2003 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The G2E will feature brand new, cutting edge technology for use in all areas of the gaming industry, from slots to security. The trade show will also feature hundreds of companies displaying their wares in an attempt to sell their products to gaming enterprises. Casino executives and managers, slot technicians and dealers will be making their way to the biggest casino industry event of the year.
Organized by the American Gaming Association and Reed Exhibitions, G2E is the preeminent show for the worldwide gaming-entertainment industry. G2E is the gaming trade show and conference "by the industry and for the industry." Its first two years have been a tremendous success. Now, going into its third year, the organizers of the event expect nothing but growth and improvement for the industry show. Education concerning the industry is constantly evolving and growing and, from slot technicians to dealers to CEO's, all gaming industry professionals must stay abreast of developments. That is a big reason why the industry is extremely eager to work together with other partners, furthering knowledge, understanding regulations and sharing thoughts and ideas.
The G2E also presents the opportunity for gaming industry professionals from around the world to network with one another. Attendees can meet people they may have spoken with previously, as well as meeting many, many more. The ability for gaming industry professionals to interact with others in their field from around the globe is an excellent means of sharing information, knowledge and both positive and negative experiences. It allows people to communicate promotional and marketing strategies, understand how another property may operate, compare rules and regulations, and share security strategies and ways of addressing problem gambling. More industry professionals will attend this show than any other, and it will be the perfect opportunity to witness and begin to understand how gaming works around the globe.
This year's New Product Showcase will allow attendees to look at the latest products and technologies from around the world. New to the 2003 G2E is the Security and Surveillance Pavilion. The Pavilion showcases world class suppliers of security devices and services, including technologies relating to facial recognition, coin wrappers, multi-plexers, alarms, dice, voucher bags, and more.
Possibly the most important aspect of the three-day trade show is the more than 100 conference and workshop sessions available to those attending. Expert panel speakers and long-time industry personnel will offer their knowledge and opinions on nearly every gaming-related topic. Among the broad issues presently slated for discussion in more specifically focused sessions are bingo, communication and marketing, games and technology, gaming development, gaming law and regulations, horse racing regulations, Internet gaming, lottery, management, Native American gaming, pari-mutuel and security.
The Casino Management Association (CMA) is scheduled to hold six workshop sessions for the G2E Training and Development Institute on Monday, September 15, 2003. The topics for the six sessions focus around gaming operations and include:
* Casino 2010: Where is the Modern Casino Complex Headed?
* The 3-Minute Manager: Are They Underdeveloped?
* Giving it all Away: Evolution of the Comp
* Rating Table Players: Myths, Methods and Training
* Leading Leaders: Motivation in Casino Operations
* Sports Wagering: U.S.: International? Internet?
The G2E is living up to the billing it has received as "the first-ever international gaming industry trade show and conference organized by the industry and for the industry." In any industry - particularly one that is so relatively new, rapidly expanding, and utilizing cutting edge techniques and technology - trade shows are extremely beneficial.
