LARCHMONT, New York--(Press Release)--Oct. 19, 2000--Internet gaming CEOs and top executives from 30 countries will meet at the Fourth Annual Symposium on Internet Gambling Law and Management sponsored by BioConferences International, Inc. to be held Nov. 26- 28th in Antigua, the Internet gaming capital of the world.
The conference will focus on Offshore vs. Onshore Gaming: The Battle Heats Up. Antigua, long considered the Las Vegas of the Internet gaming field, now faces strong competition not only from other Caribbean islands but also from such jurisdictions as Gibraltar, Malta, Norfolk Island and others.
The Internet gaming industry narrowly escaped a defeat with the recent close call in Australia where the Federal Government's attempt to impose a moratorium tied in the legislature and thus failed for now. The U.S. is close to a ban on Internet gaming, as it has been for the past several years. These developments have heightened Internet Gaming executives interest in finding the best jurisdictions for operating an Internet gaming business.
Chaired by Joseph M. Kelly, SUNY College at Buffalo and Anthony R. Coles, Partner, Jeffrey Green Russell, London, the conference will feature sessions on various jurisdictions as well as on Internet casinos, sports books, lotteries, regulatory issues, financial performance, marketing techniques, taxation, and customer service.
Speakers at the conference include: Mickey Charles, CEO the Sports Network; Marc Falcone, Bear Stearns & Co.; Julian Harris, Biddle & Co; Carlos Fonseca Executive Office of Casino Games, Peru; Graeme Levin of gambling.com; Lisa Wycherley, Microgaming; I. Nelson Rose, world-renowned Internet gaming expert; and many others.
The third annual presentation of the International Internet Gaming Innovator awards will take place at the luncheon on Nov. 27th. The conference will also feature exhibits of major software and other companies serving the Internet gaming field including Dot.com Entertainment, Sports Network, Softnet (Game Tech), Internet Global Management, startcasino.com, ICrystal, and many others. Sponsors include Starnet, Cable and Wireless, Next One, Casino City, and Casino International.
