Gaming conference to be held in Antigua

The Fourth Annual International Symposium on Internet Gambling Law and Management to be held November 26-28 at the Royal Antiguan Hotel in St. Johns, Antigua organized by BioConferences International, Inc., is drawing participants from around the world.

Participants hail from all parts of the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and the Pacific, North America, South America and Africa. The conference’s major sponsors include Starnet, Cable & Wireless, Wagering.com, Casino Promote, and Casino International. Among the exhibitors are Dot.com entertainment, Sports Network, Softnec, Internet Global Management, Internet Gaming Commission, Net Pro, Orbis.

Meeting attendees will gather in Antigua to discuss the merits of offshore versus onshore gaming. As many jurisdictions considering banning or heavily regulating Internet gaming, more and more Internet gaming operators have moved to the islands of the Caribbean, Malta, Gibraltar, Norfolk Island.

Other issues under discussion include: Which jurisdictions offer the best environments for Internet gaming? What are the pros and cons of various jurisdictions? What is the current situation and prognosis for Internet gaming in Australia, given the recent failed moratorium and its follow-up? How will proposed regulatory and tax changes in Antigua affect entities operating there? Will Antigua remain the main Internet gaming venue or will it be replaced by other jurisdictions such as Dominica, Costa Rica, Belize, Malta, Gibraltar, and Norfolk Island?
