HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Thomas A. Decker, Chairman of
the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, will be the Keynote Speaker at the
3rd annual Pennsylvania Gaming Congress & Racing Forum, March 12-13 at the
Whitaker Center and Harrisburg Hilton.
Mr. Decker will address hundreds of attendees at the conference
luncheon, speaking about "The State of Gaming in Pennsylvania." Under Mr.
Decker's direction, the Gaming Control Board has stayed a steady course
through sometimes-turbulent periods since its creation more than two years
ago.
Today, the Board is regulating three operating racetrack casinos, with
two more scheduled to open within three months. Most recently, the Board
awarded licenses that will result in the development of five additional
stand-alone slot-machine casinos in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and
northeastern Pennsylvania.
Mr. Decker, who has a distinguished career in law, was appointed to a
three-year term as Chairman of the Gaming Control Board by Governor Ed
Rendell in October 2004.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Congress & Racing Forum is a first-class
conference that annually attracts more than 400 attendees, including casino
executives, equipment manufacturers, analysts, investors, public officials,
attorneys, regulators and other industry-related professionals.
The conference program features a workshop for vendors seeking to do
business with the casinos, a session with top executives from all six
licensed racinos, a panel of four of Wall Street's premier analysts, an
analysis of slot machine performance, and a special presentation on casinos
and land-use fights.
This year's Pennsylvania Gaming Congress includes a Racing Forum, which
will examine the latest trends and technologies that are reshaping the
business and practices of racetracks in the Northeast and nationwide, as
well as a discussion of how gaming can help racetrack operators market to
their horse players.
