Southern Gaming Summit sees increase in attendance

14 May 2019

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The annual 2019 Southern Gaming Summit (SGS) saw increases in attendance and sponsors after returning to a full three-day event this year. There were more than 1,000 attendees and 40 sponsors throughout Southern Gaming Summit which includes the golf tournament, sessions, receptions, and Mississippi Gaming Hall of Fame gala.

“We knew during the planning phase that this year’s event was going to be special,” said Larry Gregory, executive director, Mississippi Gaming & Hospitality Association. “The support we received from casino operators, gaming manufacturers, other sponsors, as well as industry experts who wanted to participate, was outstanding. For years, the Southern Gaming Summit has been the place to be for networking and knowledge-sharing -- we’re so pleased to see that continue.”

“Our team at MGHA really took ownership of this year’s event,” said Gerad Hardy, chair, Mississippi Gaming & Hospitality Association. “It’s been an event that we’ve all attended for years, but this year many of us really got involved, and put our own special stamp on the event. This is an event for Southern casino operators, and our vendors, put on by Southern casino operators. The sessions reflected what we think are topics, and issues, most important to us today, and those that will help us to succeed in the future.”

“The Southern Gaming Summit is starting to see a resurgence,” said Christie Eickelman, vice president of global marketing, Gaming Laboratories International. “We’ve had great traffic all week, and we are having the opportunity to talk to the people we need to talk to -- the decision makers of gaming operators, and others who we do business with.”

In addition to increased participation, Southern Gaming Summit also featured the induction of another Mississippi Gaming Hall of Fame class, and for the first time, a $9,750 donation was made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital on behalf of Anthony Scudiero, general manager, Fitzgerald’s Tunica, winner of the $25,000 Free Play Frenzy promotion sponsored by SCA Gaming.

The 2020 Southern Gaming Summit will be held 5-7 May.
