The show must go on

26 September 2001

Despite fears following the recent terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, the organizers of the Global Gaming Expo (G2E), scheduled October 1-3, 2001 in Las Vegas, have announced that the show will go on as planned, presumably with extra security.

Following the industry lead as whether or not to cancel the show, Lorenz Hassenstein, Industry Vice President, said, “Hearing numerous directives from the industry in favor of moving forward with the show, we will hold G2E at the Las Vegas Convention Center ... as planned.”

Companies attending include Boss Media, Casino.com, iGamingSolutions, Interactive Gaming Council, The River City Groupand World Gaming plc., and others who elected to continue with the show despite the recent tragedies.

Other conferences and shows appear to be following the same line of thinking. The Interactive Gaming Institute of Nevada has confirmed that the Interactive Gaming Expo & Conference will proceed as scheduled on September 26-28, 2001 in Las Vegas. There have been no changes in plans to hold another gambling conference, the World Gaming Expo, in October 17-19, 2001 also in Las Vegas.
