SAN DIEGO, California – Jan. 28, 2002 –- As reported by the (California) North County Times: "More than 700 tribal leaders, state gambling regulators and casino executives are expected to attend a three-day conference beginning Tuesday that will offer seminars on such subjects as politics, gambling regulation and casino management.
"`The agenda will work to address issues that are universal to the industry,' said Jacob Coin, executive director of the California Nations Indian Gaming Association, which is sponsoring the event.
"…The seventh annual Western Indian Gaming Conference will include a trade show at the San Diego Convention Center where slot machine makers, architectural firms, accounting firms, banks and other goods-and-services providers will display their newest products.
"…Beginning Wednesday, tribal leaders will attend seminars presented by state regulators, tribal lawyers and tribal officials. Among the subjects that will be discussed are tribal government sovereignty, interpreting the tribal compact with the state and the state budget process…"
